Course Description

Swim Course: (300m)

The swim is in a 25-meter pool which ranges from 3 ½ to 5 feet. Swimmers will complete 12 lengths (6 laps). Open/Elite Division will start first. Participants will enter the pool every 15 seconds swimming down and back in each lane before changing lanes. All lane changes are made on the same side of the pool where you begin. With this swim format it is CRITICAL to provide us with an accurate swim time for 300 meters. This will be very important one week out from the event when we begin using that estimated time to seat you in position. The fastest swimmers will be first with the slower swimmers in the line behind.

Bike Course: (11.3 mi - Out and Back)

The bike course is rolling with no major climbs and will consist of a 11.3-mile out and back on back country roads. No drafting, bikers must stay 4 lengths apart. There will be a small portion of VA 277 where a bike lane will be set on the east bound lane. This portion will be specially marked and patrolled by local police. Single file out and back during this section of the race. BIKE COURSE IS NOT CLOSED TO TRAFFIC. As a rider, you must use caution and make your own judgment call while on the course. There will be police presence and volunteers at the turns to ensure you know where to go.

Running Course: (3.1mi/5K - Out and Back)

The run is an out and back and is entirely in the park using the path and park road.

Course Support:

We will have water and sport drinks at the water stations and finish line. There will be water at the the transition area, halfway point while biking, and the finish line. We will also have food items at the finish line area for volunteers and participants only.

Athlete Responsibility:

It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the course. Please study the map and drive, or even better practice the course.
