FCPRD RUNNING SERIES IMPACT
Frederick County Parks & Recreation’s Run at the Top race series has grown significantly over the years, evolving into a cornerstone of the local running community. What began as a series of small, locally focused races has expanded to include hosting the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® races, taking over the directorship of the historic Loudoun Street Mile, and introducing the vibrant Glow All Out 5K. Our Fall and Spring Youth Running Clubs were designed to inspire and develop the next generation of runners, and our holiday-themed Scavenger Hunt Fun Runs bring a playful and festive twist to fitness. Each event offers something unique, whether it’s the challenge of competitive racing, fostering youth development, or enjoying lighthearted, family-friendly fun.
The impact of these races extends far beyond the finish line. They foster physical activity and healthy lifestyles across all age groups, while also creating opportunities for social connection and community spirit. Through our races, we have been able to support local nonprofits, ensuring that the proceeds benefit meaningful causes within our community. From promoting fitness and wellness to generating goodwill and camaraderie, the Run at the Top series exemplifies how recreational events can strengthen and unify our region.
